"You don’t take a photograph, you make it." - Ansel Adams

About Loel Martin

Ever since I was a little boy and had my first Brownie Camera, I loved taking pictures. While attending the University of Wisconsin, I rekindled the photography bug, shooting college life and selling my images at a local gallery. From then on, I have always been shooting. I worked a year at a photo lab and a year as a photographer’s assistant. In 1976 I entered my first art fair and won “Best of Show.” In the fall of 1980, I started doing art fairs full time, with the encouragement and support of my soon to be wife and of my mother who was also an artist. From then on I traveled the East, Southeast and Midwest doing 35-40 shows a year. My wife, Alison, and I have gone on many travels (South America, Europe, Canada, Japan, etc.) collecting our varied photographs. As a former athlete, I also have an appreciation of sports and love attending and shooting sporting events. I am deeply indebted to my wife, children and grandchild who have always been there for support. I hope you enjoy viewing my images and enjoy the ones you purchase for yourselves or as gifts.
